Eddie Wilson's Introduction Empty Eddie Wilson's Introduction

Thu Jul 04, 2024 1:07 am
The titantron lights up and flashing across the screen are the words "COMING SOON".

Spaghetti Rock blares out over the PA system and the area around the entrance ramp goes dark. A video of cowboys riding fast across the screen plays on the titantron. An old-time western-style wanted poster of Eddie shows up on the screen, yellowed and frayed at the edges. Then Eddie Wilson pops up on the screen in a black cowboy hat, a long tan coat, a western button-up shirt, jeans, and boots. He has a coiled whip in his hand and snaps the whip at the camera filming the scene on the titantron.

The scene continues, showing scenes from old westerns of cowboys riding hard across the plains, scenes of cowboys riding in the rodeo on bucking horses and angry bulls, showing scenes of cowboys wrestling steers to the ground by their horns. Then the music dies down slowly as a lone man on a horse rides across a field of wheat, he's wearing a long tan coat and black cowboy hat. He rides to the edge of the field where a log lays on the ground. He climbs off the horse and he stands nearby, idly eating at the grass and wheat as the man moves to sit on the log, pulling out a pocket knife from his pocket. He reaches down and grabs a stick and sits up and begins whittling at the stick. As he whittles, he looks up at the camera.

Eddie Wilson: I'm Eddie Wilson, I was just signed ta AOD or Empire if ya will. I reckon Owen McManus saw my work and liked what he saw, cause he sent me a contract after a phone call. So now I reckon I'm gonna head over the ocean and hop on over to England. But before I do, I was told to get on here and talk. Not sure what they want me to talk about, maybe they want me to brag? Maybe they want me ta tell y'all how I'm gonna do this or that, maybe tell how I'm gonna win the world title.

Eddie Wilson looks down at the stick in his hand, his eyes roaming over the stick as the knife passes over and through the wood. He concentrates as he makes some intricate cuts on the wood., little notches here and there before he gazes back up at the camera.

Eddie Wilson: Ya see, here's the thing, I don't brag or boast. When a weasel gits in the hen house, all the chickens start squawking and the rooster fights. I'm the rooster, ya get what I'm saying? I do my talkin' in the ring. I don't need ta brag, y'all will see what I can do soon enough. So what else can I say? Let me tell ya a bit about who I am. I want y'all ta understand who I am. There was a wrestler once that used to say, "Don't trust anybody". It was like a part of his in-ring persona. But for me, well it's the way of life.

Wilson lowers his gaze to the wood again, still chipping away at the wood, carving through the wood as he gathers his thoughts. The wood seems to help him concentrate as he whittles away at it. He raises his gaze again, looking at the camera with intensity.

Eddie Wilson : I ain't comin' over ta make friends, I don't want any friends. I don't believe in friends, seen enough in my life ta know that it don't last, that friends will always turn their backs on ya, one reason or another. I'm comin' over there ta make money and AOD is paying me more than anyone else, so here I come. But I also don't sling the bull, I'm up front about everything. I don't lie or cheat. I git it done with these two hands, two feet and my head. I don't hold back, not in the ring or when I'm talkin'. I speak my mind, I don't agree just ta make peace, I say what I feel, No BS ever. Do I want ta be champion? Ya damn straight I do. No one gits inta this unless they want ta be champion. Git ready, cause I'm comin'. Let the chickens squawk, cause the rooster is gonna fight.

Eddie Wilson lowers his gaze, the wood is now covered in his big hands. He puts away the knife and stands up, bending over the log for a moment and then goes back to the horse and climbs on and rides off. The camera pans back to the log and sitting on top of the log is a carved wooden figure of a horse and the scene fades to black.
